Organometallic Chemistry has become an important branch of chemical sciences and is an integral part both in academia and industry. Although our understanding of this topic has increased it has advanced into many diverse topics which are yet to be exploited. Catalysis has influenced and is changing our lives, more than any other scientific area. Catalysis offers lowenergy, low-waste routes to chemical products and has become the cornerstone of sustainable chemical technology and for developing greener technologies. The importance of the topic has also been underlined by the fact that three Nobel Prizes were awarded in this field alone in 2001, 2005 and 2010. This field has thus advanced towards asymmetric catalysis, bioorganometallic chemistry, Metal clusters (metallaboranes, metallacarboranes, metallacarbides) etc. These advanced topics will be dealt on during the course for the benefit of M.Sc, Ph.D and faculty from Department of Chemistry, Savitribai Phule Pune University, its affiliated colleges, other universities, institutions and industry.

Professor

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Leipzig University, Germany, since 1993. She received her diploma (1982) and doctoral degree (1983) at Philipps University, Marburg, Germany. After stays at the University of Sussex, UK (Liebig Grant 1984/85), the University of Western Australia (Liebig Grant, 1985/86) and the ANU, Canberra, Australia (grant, DFG, 1986/87), she completed her habilitation in Marburg (1988). From 1988-1990 she was a Research Associate at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany.
